Creating Custom Screenshots for Your App

Create custom screenshots instead of using our built-in Screenshot Generator for your apps.

If you want more control over the look and feel of your app’s store images, you can create custom screenshots instead of using our built-in Screenshot Generator.

Why Use Custom Screenshots?

Custom screenshots give you more flexibility to:

  • Highlight specific features or app experiences.

  • Use custom branding elements such as unique backgrounds, additional text, or annotations.

  • Ensure full control over the design and messaging.

While SupaPass provides an automatic Screenshot Generator, custom screenshots allow for a more tailored and visually appealing representation of your app.

Custom Screenshot Requirements

Each app store has specific requirements for screenshots. Make sure your images meet these guidelines before submitting.

Apple App Store Guidelines

When preparing your app for the Apple App Store, it's essential to adhere to specific screenshot requirements to ensure optimal display across various devices.

General Requirements

  • Quantity: A minimum of 1 and up to 10 screenshots per device size.

  • File Format: Screenshots should be in JPEG or 24-bit PNG format without transparency.

  • Resolution: Images must have a minimum resolution of 72 dpi.

  • Color Space: Use the RGB color space for all images.

Device-Specific Requirements

Apple mandates that developers provide screenshots tailored to specific device displays:

iPhone 6.9" Display

  • Use the large iPhone screenshot set accepted by App Store Connect. Check Apple’s current screenshot specifications for device coverage and any newer requirements.

  • Portrait: 1260 × 2736, 1290 × 2796, or 1320 × 2868 pixels.

  • Landscape: 2736 × 1260, 2796 × 1290, or 2868 × 1320 pixels.

  • Check the required device sets in App Store Connect and Apple’s current specifications before submission. The large iPhone dimensions above remain accepted; they are not a complete list of every currently required device set.

iPad 13-inch Display

  • Use the 13-inch iPad screenshot set accepted by App Store Connect.

  • Portrait: 2048 × 2732 or 2064 × 2752 pixels.

  • Landscape: 2732 × 2048 or 2752 × 2064 pixels.

  • Note: These screenshots are required if your app runs on iPad.

Additional Considerations

  • Consistency: If your app’s UI is the same across multiple device sizes, you can provide the highest resolution screenshots required. They will automatically scale down for smaller sizes.

Google Play Store Guidelines

When submitting screenshots for your app’s Google Play Store listing, follow these requirements to ensure compliance and improve visibility:

Minimum Requirements

You must provide at least two screenshots across different device types:

  • File Format: JPEG or 24-bit PNG (no transparency).

  • Size Limitations:

    • Minimum dimension: 320 pixels.

    • Maximum dimension: 3,840 pixels.

    • The longest side cannot be more than twice the shortest side.

Highly Recommended for Better Visibility

To improve your chances of being featured in Google Play’s recommended sections, provide at least four high-resolution screenshots:

  • Resolution: Minimum 1080px width.

  • Orientation-Specific Guidelines:

    • Landscape: 16:9 ratio, minimum 1920x1080px.

    • Portrait: 9:16 ratio, minimum 1080x1920px.

By meeting these recommendations, your app may be showcased in Google Play’s large-format display sections, increasing visibility and potential downloads.

How to Create Custom Screenshots

Once you understand the requirements, follow these steps to design and submit your screenshots:

  1. Design Your Screenshots

    • Use graphic design tools such as Canva, Photoshop, or Figma or an online tool. Currently SupaPass does not recommend any specific tool, we have clients that have used appscreens successfully

    • Ensure the text is readable and key app features stand out.

  2. Include Device Frames (Optional)

    • You can add phone or tablet frames to enhance the visuals.

    • Apple and Google provide official device mockups for this purpose.

  3. Upload Your Screenshots

    • In your SupaPass dashboard, go to App Setup > Screenshots.

    • Go to the pick and review tab and click Upload Custom screen to add your images.

  4. Submit for Review

    • Once uploaded, review your images to ensure they match store guidelines.

    • click on approve for submission

Does the approve for submission button stay grey and can't click on it? Most likely you have not selected the minimum required screenshots for each section.
