Exploring an App with TestFlight Before Release

TestFlight is a powerful tool provided by Apple that allows developers to distribute pre-release versions of their iOS apps to a select group of testers. If you're looking to explore an app before it's officially released, TestFlight can provide you with an opportunity to do just that. In this article, we'll walk you through the process of using TestFlight to get early access to an app.

What is TestFlight?

TestFlight is a platform that enables developers to invite users to test their apps before they are made available to the general public on the App Store. It is a valuable tool for gathering feedback, identifying issues, and ensuring the app is ready for a smooth release.

How to Get Access to an App via TestFlight

  1. First, install the TestFlight app onto your device from the App Store. You'll need an iPhone or iPad running iOS 14.0 or later.

  2. On the App Setup page click 'Build app' and select 'iOS'.

  3. Select the option 'No, make available on TestFlight only' and then 'Build for Testflight'

  4. The app will then start building and be delivered automatically to the store. Once it's ready you and any testers on your account will be invited to test the app using TestFlight.

  5. From your device, click 'View in TestFlight' to redeem access. If you're opening the email in a browser on your computer you may have to open TestFlight separately, tap 'Redeem' and enter a code instead.

  6. Once you've accepted the invitation, you will see the app listed in your TestFlight app. Tap on the app's icon to begin the download process.

Explore the app

TestFlight offers you and your team a unique opportunity to explore an app before it's officially released to the public. By following the steps outlined above, you can access and test the app before you launch or to check on new features we've released.

Once you've finished testing you can submit the build for review.
