Introduction
An important aspect of keeping your audience engaged and hooked is a well organized content layout. It will give your audience some guidance on how to navigate through your digital creations and they can use it to easily find the content they want to see, hear or read.
Before being able to curate your content, we recommend that you complete a few other actions to make this a smooth and efficient process. Make sure that you:
Created your products - There is no need to fully flesh out your product strategy, but we highly recommend to have the initial basic structure already setup. This can be as simple as the name of your product and a sample copy in the description.
Why is this important? When creating your content, you can select which products the content is part of. It becomes a much smoother and more efficient setup process by first creating your products and then adding content to the product instead of vice versa.
Uploaded your files - When you are just starting out at SupaPass, you might have a lot of content you want to add. Part of the content are you cover images, possible download attachments etc. Having all these files already loaded up, will make it for a much quicker process instead of individually loading the file for each content piece you create.
Curating Your Content
With the two steps above complete, it’s time to master creating a professional layout for all your content.
On the Content Sections screen we help you make your content laid out like e.g. on Netflix / Amazon Prime / Spotify by utilizing a ‘Section’ Layout.
Your Content Sections Explained
At SupaPass there are three levels to keep in mind when curating your content
TL;DR
Section = categorizing your Lists
Lists = Collection of Content
Content = Video, Audio or written pieces
Content
The star of the show and the reason we are putting this all together is your content. There are three content types;
Audio - examples are podcasts, songs or audiobooks
Video - examples are visual courses, video podcasts, recorded live sessions or YouTube content
Articles - examples are blog posts, News articles or a community feed
Lists
Your content is always added to a list. Each content type has its own separate set of lists, which is a collection of your content with a particular topic or theme. You can use the same list name across different content types, but each one is still treated as its own independent list.
Mixed-content lists aren’t supported - a single list can only contain one type of content.
You can add the same piece of content to multiple lists if it makes sense for your setup.
For example, if you upload a new song that is part of an album, you can add it to your Album list, and also add it to another list such as My Most Recent Songs.
Section
A Section is a group of lists and can be seen as a category. Think of a section name as a category that helps organize the lists you’ve created.
You can place the same list into more than one section if it fits multiple themes - similar to how Spotify might show the same song in both Christmas Songs and The Best of Mariah Carey.
A section can include lists from different content types.
However, if a section does not contain any lists for a specific content type, your audience won’t see that section when they browse that content type in your app or website.
How it displays
Within your Content Sections screen your content shows on three tabs:
Video
Audio
Articles
Top Tip
You can rename these in the Builder e.g. Podcasts, Courses, Blogs (but remember where to go to add more audio, videos, and articles respectively as these will still always be your audio, video and articles tabs).
Examples of curation
Here are some examples of how the curation can look like for different content types.
Courses
Let's say you are starting a course on how to curate courses. Your course title is the Section - titled ‘Making Your Content Awesome’.
Within this course there are three modules - each is a List titled 'Module 1', 'Module 2', and 'Module 3'. So in this case this section will have 3 lists.
Each Module (List) has your content added, for example five videos ‘Lesson 1-5’.
SVOD
Let's say you are starting a streaming service on vintage footage. You can create a section named 1920's . In this section you add different collections, which are your lists, e.g. focussed on a certain actor - let's say Charlie Chaplin. Within your list your have your content which are videos of scenes from different Charlie Chaplin movies.
Music
Let's you are a music artist, you've done live shows, you have studio recordings and you maybe have some unreleased demo's. these different categories could be your first three sections. Within the Live shows, you can create a collection of recordings of the different shows you've done, e.g. Fringe Festival 2025 - that's the name of your list. Within that list, you can add the live recordings for that show, which is your content
Setting up your Content Sections
Head to Content Sections (under Content in the left menu)
You’ll first make your Section, then your List, then your Content.
In most cases before you get to this screen you’ll already have created your Products (if you want to control access) and Uploaded your files in one go (to save you time for lots of content). Our instructions are based of this process.
If you just want to add one piece of content to an existing Section and list, you can check out this guide here.
New Section
Click Create Section (top right button) to add a new section on the page
Add the Section Name and hit Save
You can drag the order of the Section up and down to change the order your sections
In your content lay out screen all sections you create will show for all content types, even if that section does not apply. Your website and app will never show empty sections. If you created a section that is only applicable for e.g. video content, but not for audio content, then on your website the section will only show for video and will not show for audio.
New List
To add a new list, navigate to Content and select either Video, Audio or Article Lists. Then click on Create List. click on View all Lists button, then click on Create List button.
If the list already exists, then you can click Add to a List in the Section you want and select an existing list.
Complete the form and hit Save. Make sure to add a cover image, so the list really stands out.
You can change the order of the Lists within each Section by clicking edit on the Section and dragging the order of the Lists around.
New Content
There are two routes to create new content:
Route 1
On the Content Sections screen go to the tab for the content type you want (i.e. Video, Audio, Article - note if you’ve renamed the tabs remember which is which)
Click Create New Video/Audio/Article (depending on which content tab you’re on)
Route 2
Click on Create Video, Create Audio or Create Article directly from the Left navigation panel
Complete the Create Content form and click Save
Adding Content to different lists
If you want to add the same content into different lists, there's no need to reload everything from the media library. Once you've created a list, you can easily add existing content that already has a description and cover image.
To do this, navigate to the edit content form. Under the "List" header, you'll find an option to add content to a new list by clicking the "+" icon.
A pop-up will appear, displaying your existing lists. Simply select the relevant list, and your content will be added instantly.
