Inviting Your Existing Membership to SupaPass Using Unique Invitation Links

Invite your existing members to your new SupaPass content home by sending them unique code links.

Updated over a year ago

Invite your existing members to your new SupaPass content home by sending them unique code links. In less than a minute, you'll have a downloaded .csv file that contains unique URLs you can send to your members. This article walks you through the steps and provides extra helpful tips.

What are unique code/invitation links?

Unique invitation links are URLs that automatically validate an access code for paid content when a user clicks the link. New users only need to complete their registration with an email address and a password, while previously registered users gain access to content immediately.

Unique invitation links are helpful when distributing access codes to a large group of people, but you want the codes to be shared only with your intended audience. Delivery of unique invitation links is through a .csv export of code batches.

Before you begin

You will need at least one paid Product live on your site to create unique codes and links. With your Product(s) ready, create a code template.

Creating a code batch

With your code template created, open the template (Commerce > Codes > [choose the code template]) and tap Create Code Batch to generate a spreadsheet (.csv file) with a designated number of unique codes. These codes have the same effect as the template (duration, product access, etc.), but each code can only be used by one user. This is useful as it allows you to distribute one code to each user in a group and prevents them from sharing the code outside the target group.

To create a Code Batch:

  1. Click 'Create Code Batch'

  2. Enter the number of codes you wish to generate and the redemption date

    Warning

Access begins when a member validates their code, and may be near the Redemption by date.

  3. Set redemption limits for each code

  4. Click 'Save + Download'

  5. Within seconds, a .csv file will download to your computer. You may download this again or generate a new batch from the Code Template.

Top Tip

Use Google Sheets or another spreadsheet app to view the .csv file.

Recommendation: Import the codes into your CRM tool for large membership lists πŸš€

CRM: Customer Relationship Management

With a large membership to migrate, we recommend importing the unique URL directly into your CRM tool (MailChimp, HubSpot, ActiveCampaign, etc.) to email your members efficiently. We have a video walkthrough and steps listed below to assist.

STEPS

  1. Open/Import the .csv downloaded code batch file into a spreadsheet app (the video shows Google Sheets)

  2. Expand columns to view data easily

  3. Within your CRM tool, create a custom field for the link (think of this as a placeholder within your CRM - it will eventually store the link data for your membership)

    1. It is optional to create a second custom field for the code value.

  4. From your CRM or your existing membership platform, export a list of those you would like to send a link to - the email address data is all you need!

  5. In your code batch spreadsheet, add a column on the far left

  6. Add a row to the top of the spreadsheet

  7. Label the three columns (you could use Email, Code, and Link)

  8. Paste the list of exported email addresses (your members receiving the codes) into the Email column

  9. Import the data into your CRM using the email address column to match records, and import the code/link data into the custom fields you created in step 3 above.

  10. You now have everything you need to send a helpful email to your members about your new content home!

Notifying your members

It is best practice to notify your members (typically via email) of your upcoming content home change! Within the notification, share with them:

  • Why you've chosen to make the change

  • What you are most excited about. Some examples could be:

    • Apps are coming soon (if you have a plan that includes Apps)

    • One home for all content

    • Commenting functionality

    • New content notifications
