Attachments, PDFs, and EPUBs

Add EPUB and PDF to a viewer and let users download other types of file

Updated over a week ago

Introducing PDF/EPUB viewer and attachments

We're excited to introduce a new feature that enhances your experience by allowing you to attach and access additional content types seamlessly. With this feature, you can now include PDFs, EPUBs, and other attachment types to complement your audio, article, and video content.

This is a great enhancement for you and your users. Attachments can be used for additional content, worksheets, downloadable assets for courses and more.

This article will guide you through the process of adding, viewing, and downloading attachments on both iOS and Web platforms, with support for Android coming in early 2024.

Adding Attachments

To enrich your content, you can attach files during the creation or editing process. When creating or editing your audio, article, or video, you'll find two options for adding attachments in the 'Advanced' section.

Downloads

In this section you can upload multiple files that can be downloaded by your users. Supported file types include .pdf, .epub, .doc, .docx, .jpg, .jpeg and .png.

EPUB/PDF

In this section you can upload a single EPUB or PDF that can be viewed on the web or in the app but cannot be downloaded.

Viewing and download attachments

Once attachments have been added to a content item they can be viewed or downloaded by your users as soon as the content is published. The 'Read' button will display with your branding color, while the Download options will use a dark or light button that contrasts with your chosen theme.

FAQ

My file type is not supported, what should I do?

We currently support .pdf and .epub for viewing and download, with download only support for .doc, .docx, .jpg, .jpeg and .png.

If your file type is not supported we would recommend converting to a supported file type, but if this is not possible you can use the embedded link functionality in the text editor.

I'm already using embedded links to host files, can I move them?

Yes! As long as your file type is supported by attachments then you can move them over. We strongly encourage you to do this for PDF and EPUB files that you don't want to be made available for download. Files we have hosted for you will remain available for the time being.

Do you support EPUB magazines?

Yes, but how they display may depend on the layout of the epub and how it has been exported. Feel free to send a sample to us to check it out!
