Registering for the Apple Developer Program

Register for the Apple Developer Program and choose between an Organization and Individual account.

Updated over a week ago

Choose an Account Type: Individual or Organization?

You'll need to register for the correct type of account depending on the type of business you own. It's important to choose the correct type to prevent delay to your apps.

Note

To be a member of the Apple Developer Program you'll need to pay an annual membership fee ($99/year). If you're a charitable organization you may be eligible to apply for a fee waiver.

Individual account

This account is for sole traders/proprietors, single person companies and those without a registered company in your jurisdiction.

  • Your personal name will appear below your app name in the App Store.

  • You cannot add Members/Users

  • You cannot use an individual account if the content relates to regulated fields such as finances or healthcare unless the content could be categorized as predominantly educational. If you have this kind of content we recommend setting up an Organization account.

Organization account

Registering as an Organization can be the lengthiest part of the app-building process. It may take up to a week to hear back and is entirely dependent upon Apple's review process. We advise doing this step early to prevent delay and checking if you have a DUNS Number before applying.

This account is for those operating a company registered with the relevant organization in your jurisdiction (e.g. LLC, Ltd), registered charities and other eligible organizations such as government bodies and educational institutions.

  • Your company name will appear below your app name in the App Store.

  • You can add Team Members by inviting users to join your account.

  • Each Team Member will need to use their own login credentials and will have limited access to your information according to access levels you set in App Store Connect.

  • An Organization account is required for apps relating to highly regulated fields such as finances and healthcare.

To enroll as an Organization you will need:

  • A website - this should be publicly available and related to your company. If you don't already have an active website, launch your supapass website on a supapass.io domain or a custom domain first.

  • Legal Entity Status: You must be a legally registered entity in order to enter into contracts.

  • Legal Entity Name: Your Company name must correspond with your Tax ID.

  • Legal Binding Authority: The person enrolling must have the authority to sign agreements.

  • DUNS Number: a unique number used to identify your legal entity. It's easy to apply and you may already have one! Find out more here.

Enrolling on the Apple Developer program

Instructions

  1. Set up an Apple ID. You may already have a personal Apple ID, but we recommend having a separate one for your store.

    1. If you already have Apple ID for your company, skip to step 2.

    2. Input your information as the account holder for your business.

    3. Complete the 2-Factor-Authentication set-up and verify the codes sent to you by Apple.

    4. You may then be asked to accept the Apple ID Terms and Conditions.

  2. With your new Apple ID, start the developer account enrollment.

    1. Scroll to the bottom of that page and click "Start Your Enrollment".

    2. Login with your Company Apple ID if it prompts you to and complete the 2-Factor-Authentication.

    3. Please fill in the personal details for the Account Holder and click Continue.

    4. Choose an Entity type based on whether you need an Individual or Organization account.

      1. If you're registering as an Organization you will then be prompted to enter your Entity's Legal name and your D-U-N-S number. You can look up and confirm your D-U-N-S number using Apple's D-U-N-S Lookup tool.

If you do not have a D-U-N-S number, Apple will allow you to forward the company details entered into the Lookup tool to Dun & Bradstreet for your Legal Entity. It can take up to 10 working days to receive your D-U-N-S number.

Once you have confirmed your D-U-N-S Number with Apple, you will be asked to provide more business details and to confirm that you have the authority to sign up for this programme on behalf of your organization.

    5. Next, accept the Apple Developer Terms and Conditions.

    6. Lastly, you will need to complete the purchase of an annual membership. Please consider setting up auto-renew so that your account renews each year.

      1. Certain organizations may be eligible for a fee waiver.

  3. Once you have enrolled, you can login to https://appstoreconnect.apple.com and begin the process of connecting your Apple Developer Account to SupaPass.
