Issues with your RSS when importing podcasts

Importing your podcast through RSS can be a valuable way to incorporate your content into SupaPass

Updated this week

Importing your podcast through RSS can be a valuable way to incorporate your content into SupaPass, but it's not always smooth sailing. Follow these steps if your import doesn't work the first time around.

Import using a URL

Unable to find your podcast in the search results? Your podcast may not have been widely syndicated yet. Instead, look for the URL of your feed and use it to import your podcast. For more assistance, reach out to your RSS host.

Check your RSS host

If you're having trouble importing your podcast, it could be due to syndication settings set by your RSS host. To resolve this, contact your provider and adjust the settings. Note that Spotify for Podcasts (formerly Anchor) doesn't syndicate podcasts to other services, so you'll need to change your settings to access the RSS feed URL for importing.

Check your RSS Feed

You can also check the RSS feed itself to see if there are any errors with this validator tool - just pop in the URL of your feed in the Address field and click 'check'

Existing RSS Feed not updating

Have you successfully imported your RSS feed in the past and the feed suddenly stopped updating? This can happen from time to time and there some steps you can take to try and fix this.

  1. Try to manually Sync the feed by going into the list and click on the Sync Button in the top right corner. Wait for 10 minutes and refresh your web page to see if it has updated. If not, then try step 2

  2. You can try a hard reset of your RSS feed by completely removing it and re-importing. Here are the steps to do this:

    • In your SupaPass dashboard, navigate to the podcast list in 'Content Lay out'

    • In the top right corner, click delete and confirm the deletion in the pop-up

    • Optional: refresh your page at this point

    • Navigate to RSS import screen

    • Follow the usual process to add the podcast, search for the name, add it to the correct products and sections and click import

    • Our database will recognize that this feed was imported in the past, a toaster message will appear in the left bottom corner asking the update the feed, action that.

    • A pop up will appear showing that it is processing the import. Once completed click on the button in the pop-up screen.

Depending on how many episodes the podcast has, the import can take 5-10 minutes. You will automatically be redirected to your Content Lay out screen after you've done the import. You might have to refresh your screen to see the Podcast show up in the Section you selected.
